Sponsored program recipient: $3.2 million    April 2004-September 2009

Project Director: Midwest Prevention Intervention Center of the African American Prevention Intervention Network. A partnership between Saint Louis University African American Studies and The Community Wellness Project of St. Louis funded by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide Capacity Building Assistance for HIV prevention education services for racial/ethnic minority populations.  

Responsible for all aspects of program implementation including partnership coordination, program staff and budget oversight and program evaluation. Attended quarterly mandatory grantee meetings, presented at relevant conferences and produced and delivered quarterly and annual reports to funder.

·      During the five-year funding period MPIC-APIN provided trainings and capacity building assistance to community based organizations, AIDS service organizations and health departments throughout the U.S.

·      MPIC-APIN staff conducted over 200 trainings and were considered Master Trainers for “SISTA” (Sisters informing Sisters on Topics about AIDS) an HIV prevention intervention for Black women and helped CDC staff revise the curriculum to adapt for various demographics.
